New Isuzu D-Max Electric Vehicle Pickups Delivered In Yorkshire ‘For The Long Haul’
Two new Isuzu D-Max Electric Vehicle pickups have been delivered to Sheffield-based MHH Contracting, a family-owned aggregates, waste removal and recycling company. The two D-Max EVs are among the first to arrive with customers, following the launch of the UK’s first production EV pickup with a payload of over 1 tonne, 3,500 kg towing capacity, and permanent four-wheel drive.
MHH Contracting, which also operates a broader portfolio of business including heritage construction, commercial property, and diverse estate management interests across Yorkshire and Derbyshire, selected the vehicles to help meet their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets. MHH director Rachel Woodhouse-Hague says the new EV pickups suit the company’s plans to future-proof its vehicle strategy.
“We’re excited by the new D-Max Electric Vehicle and to be one of the first organisations to acquire them,” explained Rachel. “The EVs fit with our sustainable waste management ethos, and clients and staff across our private and public enterprises relate to our ambitions for shrinking our carbon footprint.”
MHH’s management team are busy on-road and off, across challenging environments from construction sites to fields and farms. The Isuzu EVs are proving quiet, extremely comfortable, and very capable according to Rachel, with the convenience of recharging overnight rather than heading to a fuel station.
“The D-Max EVs make perfect sense,” continued Rachel. “We are also aware of government targets for ICE phase-out and expanding clean air zones. It is cheaper to run an electric pickup, and we expect lower maintenance costs due to less moving parts. They are tax-efficient for us, with attractive employee benefits including an ecologically considerate, quiet, smooth ride and of course, significantly lower benefit-in-kind company car tax.
“We have more than 20 pickup vehicles and 40 LGVs within our various businesses and anticipate expanding our EV fleet. The new Isuzu EV pickup’s capabilities with five-year, 125,000-mile warranty mean the D-Max EVs will be with us for the long haul!”
Supplied by Isuzu Dealer RN Golden in Huddersfield, the new EV pickups deliver a combined range of 163 miles, a city range of 223 miles*, and a battery recharge time from a DC supply (maximum 50 kW) up to 80% within one hour.
“MHH Contracting’s management were impressed by the new Isuzu D-Max EV as soon as it was announced,” says Jamie Taylor, RN Golden’s Isuzu Sales Manager. “It has all the rugged good looks of the Isuzu D-Max but is available as a fully electric vehicle for the first time. This is a game-changer for businesses who want an emissions-free pickup with all the capabilities for which the Isuzu D-Max is recognised.”
