Heavy trucks are often used in semi-trailers. In trailers are linked to make ‘road trains’. Usually, they have a total of 9 axles and 2 articulation points. The concept of road trains is also used in the United States and Western Canada (known as triples). The biggest semi-trailers are not allowed close to populated areas. This solution helps to carry many products at once. The largest road trains are between 80 and 120 tonnes. The last record was claimed in 2006 at Clifton, Queensland – a truck with 112 semi-trailers, at a length of almost 1 500 m.
